Displays
Most
of the artifacts housed in the Musée Girouxville
Museum derive from various missions from throughout the Peace
Country. Others have been donated to the museum. In all, more than
6,000 pieces are on display for your viewing and learning pleasure,
and cover a wide range of topics including religion, native history,
natural history, pioneer life, hunting and trapping, transportation,
fur trade, geology and paleontology, domestic history,
communications, agriculture, photography and education.
Religious
Artifacts Collection
French Canadian
religious history is explored in an extensive collection of religious
clothing, furnishings and other artifacts. Many of these pieces were
collected from various mission sites in the Peace River region.
Trapper's Cabin
Another highlight
of the Museum's collection is the Trapper's Cabin reconstructed inside
the museum facility. The cabin was once the home of Nick Daddock, a
trapper who disappeared on the trails. His abandoned cabin, along with
his personal possessions, has since been moved to the interior of the
Museum, offering visitors an intimate look at the Fur Trade.
