See the Treaty

The original Treaty 6 document, dating back more than a hundred years, is now housed at the Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa, Ontario, along with the adhesions signed in later years. It is courtesy of the Library and Archives that we present these digitized images of Treaty 6.

As you will see, the signing of Treaty 6 was a large-scale effort that saw the gathering of First Nations chiefs, representatives of the Queen, and various translators and witnesses. With the signatures of these attendees, viewable on the last pages of the treaty document, this group of individuals forever changed the lives of those in what became known as the Treaty 6 area of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
