treaty 8 first nations logoThe mandate of the Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta is "to operate as a unified and collective organization that shall promote, preserve and ensure the protection and implementation of the true spirit and intent of Treaty No. 8 (1899)".

The role of the organization is to coordinate, facilitate, and advocate on behalf of the First Nations in Treaty 8 (Alberta). The organization does not participate in the delivery of any direct programs or services but ensures information is communicated to the First Nations and the collective voice of the First Nations is heard locally, regionally and nationally.

The organization, incorporated in May 1997, operates through the direction of an Executive Board of Directors mandated by the membership of Treaty 8 (Alberta). The membership includes the First Nations within the Treaty 8 territory in Alberta represented in assembly by the Chiefs of each respective First Nation.

The head office of the Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta is located in the home community of the Grand Chief, with a sub-office situated in Edmonton, Alberta.
