The Athabasca Plain Wildlife

Sandhill CraneLittle is known of the animals of the Athabasca Plain Subregion, however there are similarities to both the Kazan Upland Subregion and, in jack pine forest and peatland habitats, to the adjacent Central Mixedwood Subregion. Sandhill cranes are notable breeding species here. As well, arctic and Caspian terns are subarctic species that have nested in the Subregion.
