Parkland Featured Sites
Alberta has a wealth of natural landscapes,
including flat prairie grasslands, glacier-topped
mountains, rolling
forested hills and broad river valleys. Many areas of the
province, however, have been changed significantly by human
activities. Native vegetation is often replaced by cultivated
species and the food and shelter required by wildlife may no longer be
available. As human populations increase and more agricultural,
industrial and natural resource extraction activities take place in
Alberta, protected natural landscapes become more and more valuable.
Natural Areas have been protected
throughout the province so that current and future generations will have
the opportunity to experience and appreciate their natural wonder.
Here we would like to share with you some of these places of natural
significance within the Parkland Natural Region.
