Ord's Kangaroo Rat

Status

Ord's Kangaroo RatThe Alberta Wildlife Act lists Ord's Kangaroo Rats as non-game animals, meaning that it is illegal to capture or kill Kangaroo Rats without appropriate permits. In two recent reviews, Ord's Kangaroo Rats were included on the Blue List of species that may be at risk in the province due to their apparently limited distribution in Alberta and the species' dependence on sparsely-vegetated, sandy habitats.
