Canadian Petroleum Discovery Centre

Hard hats

The Canadian Petroleum Discovery Centre is located at the junction of the Devon and Nisku Highways (60 and 19), just ten minutes west of the Edmonton International Airport. The centre, which opened in 1997, is operated by the Leduc/Devon Oilfield Historical Society and boasts both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Visitors can stand on the floor of a 1940s drilling rig and can browse artefacts, equipment, photos, archives, and interpretive displays, all relating to Alberta’s rich petroleum heritage. The Morisson Gift Shop is available for visitors to purchase unique souvenirs. The Canadian Petroleum Discovery Centre is working on an expansion that will include new and important exhibits.

The Canadian Petroleum Discovery Centre also offers interactive educational programs that have strong Alberta curriculum matches. Groups learn about Alberta’s geography, history, and natural resources.
