Alix, Settlement

The village of Alix was named after Mrs. Alexia Westhead, a pioneer rancher and the first woman settler of the district. Most of the people living there came from Eastern Canada by train. Some even walked! Once people arrived, their supplies had to shipped from the railway station in Lacombe to Alix. Even though Alix was only 25 miles away, it took 1½ days by horse and buggy.
