The Peigan Nation is the southernmost First Nations group within the Blackfoot Confederacy. Thetribe, in Canada, is referred to as the North Peigans while those in Montana areknown as the South Peigans. By themselves, the Northern Peigans are the smallestBlackfoot tribe to sign a treaty with the Canadian government, but together withtheir fellow Peigans in Montana they form the largest tribe within theConfederacy.
