Elder

In Aboriginal communities the term Elder can have many meanings. It can mean a person who is older and is known as a spiritual and cultural leader and who has the knowledge of traditions. Elders are often known as symbols of Aboriginal culture not only in their words and actions but in their very beings.

Eskimo

From the Abnaki term meaning ‘eaters of raw flesh’ or ‘snowshoe maker’. In contemporary times, these people prefer to be known as the Inuit.
