Fabyan Oil Well

According to a report by Statistics Canada, Franco-Albertans are employed in a wide spectrum of occupations and display great variations in income from one region of the province to another. In 1996, approximately 10 percent of the population made their living in agriculture, and 25 percent were employed in the public sector and Harvest Scene education. The petroleum industry is also important to the provincial and national economies. Many Franco-Albertans are successful entrepreneurs and utilize the services of local business organizations and directories. The creation of La Chambre Économique de l'Alberta in 1998 gave Franco-Albertans a vehicle to promote, coordinate and develop their economic activities.
