In recent years, the Famous 5 Foundation commissioned Patricia Shields to develop an extensive teacher/student resource that would allow teachers to easily incorporate Famous 5 history into the classroom. The resource focuses on themes such as leadership, community building, nation building, and social equality.

The following selection is excerpted from the resource and combines materials from the Teachers Resource Guide, the Sourcebook, and the Annotated Bibliography.
