The origins of the Canadian
Hungarian Cultural Society of Edmonton begin early in the 20th
century as Hungarian immigrants came
to Alberta. These immigrants formed what became the Hungarian
Cultural Circle of Edmonton (Magyar Kultúrkör in
Hungarian) in 1945 and eventually the Canadian Hungarian Cultural
Society of Edmonton, organizing gatherings and events such as
plays, poetry readings and musical performances and eventually
social support for new immigrants from Hungary. Read more about
the Society in this featured article.
