In the spring of 1919, Wilfrid Reid (Wop) May and his brother
Court, founded a company called May Airplanes Ltd. The company
was created with the cooperation of the City of Edmonton to
promote flying in Edmonton and around the province of Alberta.
The City of Edmonton agreed to pay $25 rent per month for the
Curtiss JN4 owned by the May brothers and named it The City
of Edmonton. The May brothers agreed to keep the aircraft in
flying condition and not allow any unqualified pilots to use it.
May Airplanes Ltd. accepted advertising, delivery, and
