BMW Engine
The Junkers Larsen 6 was unique in 1920, when many civilian companies purchased them because they had an all-metal fuselage built from corrugated aluminium. This gave the aircraft more durability and reduced the number of repairs that had to be done compared to the wood and fabric aircraft of the time.

These larger and heaver aircraft used the powerful 185-horse power BMW engines that had six cylinders.

The BMW III A engine, installed in a Junkers F13, was well known after it established a world record on 13 September 1919: the plane lifted eight people to a height of 6,750 metres in 86 minutes.
