Arctic Travel

The Fokker Universal was one of the closed cabin monoplanes that were used to travel into the Arctic because of its lift capacity and long range. It could carry four passengers or 680-kilograms of cargo.

The Universal also had a heated cabin, which was a necessity when flying in northern climes.

Added to these advantages was the fact that the Fokker Universal could be fitted with pontoons or skis, which were needed in northern flights for landing on water or snow.

Aviation companies like Western Canada Airways and Mackenzie Air Service used the Fokker Universal.
