Military Planes of World War II

Posing with Planes in Fort MacleodCanada made many significant contributions to the air effort of the Allies during the Second World War.

The British Commonwealth Air Training Plan hosted by Canada produced over 131,000 aircrew. A massive aircraft manufacturing effort created various types of aircraft, including one of the most successful fighter-bombers of the war, the de Havilland Mosquito.

Aircrew who were trained in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan went on to fly every description of aircraft being used in the war. These included the B-25 Mitchell Bombers, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, and the Lockheed P-38 Lightning.
