The Twin Otter was well known for being very rugged and manoeuvrable.

Changes to the plane were initially made in 1968 through the 200 series. Later in 1969, the 300 series was developed with more powerful engines, which allowed for an additional 450 kilograms of takeoff weight. Passenger room was increased to 20 seats.

Made in Canada, the Twin Otter is considered to be one of the most successful aircraft to be used commercially. It continued to be produced until 1988 when over 800 were made.
