Rough Landing

Mr. Farrell describes a hazard that could happen when flying from the north to the southern areas of the province. Some visiting dignitaries had requested Northern Airways fly to Whitehorse to pick up some important papers for them. After leaving snowbound Norman Wells in a plane equipped with skis, they arrived at Whitehorse to find that the snow had all melted due to a chinook. The pilot was able to bring the plane into a very rough landing on a few patches of snow that were left from the piles of snow earlier cleared off the runways. The plane was shaken up, but nobody was seriously injured in the incident.
