Inventor: California Research Corporation (assignee) Location: USA Comments: N/A Description: Philip P. Gaby, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, assignor to California Research Corporation. Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A. Application August 29. 1950. Serial No. 605,099 In the United States October 24, 1949.
7 Claims.
1. A device comprising seismic wave responsive means, a longitudinally extending body member for supporting said means and at least a pair of longitudinally spaced ground-engaging stakes for directionally orienting the coupling of said means in a plane substantially horizontal to the earth's surface.
2. In combination with a geophone responsive to forces acting in a given direction in a horizontal plane, a base, clamping means for securing said geophone on said base, and a plurality of spaced ground-engaging means for rigidly coupling said base to the earth in the direction of said forces.
3. The combination in accordance with Claim 2, wherein said ground-engaging means comprises parallel spikes projecting from said base.
4. In combination with a seismometer responsive substantially only to horizontal forces acting in a predetermined direction, a base member having an end member, clamping means for securing said seismometer against said end member, and a plurality of longitudinally space ground-engaging means for said base.
