1. Means of controlling the flow of granular material comprising a chute having a pair of opposite walls containing a pair of parallel slots inclined at an angle to the direction of flow of the said granular material therethrough, a third wall connecting the two first-mentioned walls and containing a short batter portion, the batter thereof being parallel to and immediately above the lower ends of the said slots; enlarged portions at the lower ends of the said slots, a flat gate member slidably positioned in the said slots and adapted to effect closure of the said gate by the positioning of its lower end below the said batter, means of moving the said gate member into and out of the line of flow of the said granular material.

Means of controlling the flow of granular material comprising a chute having a pair of opposite walls containing a pair of parallel slots inclined at an acute angle to the line of flow of such granular material, a third wall connecting the first two mentioned walls containing a short batter portion, the batter thereof being parallel to and immediately above the lower ends of the said slots; each such slot having as to its cross section a substantially horizontal upper edge and a sloping lower edge and each slot having an enlarged portion at its lower end; a flat gate member slidably positioned in the said slots and adapted to effect closure of the said chute by the positioning of its lower end below the said batter; means of moving the said gate member into and out of the line of flow of the said granular material.
