Description: The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. A sampling apparatus for taking a sample of stream of granular material moving along a chute or conveyor said apparatus comprising a tubular member adapted to extend transversely of said stream of material and be journalled for rotation about its longitudinal axis, a disc carried by said tube for rotation therewith and a sample passage secured on said disc having an inlet port adjacent the periphery of said disc, said passage communicating with an outlet port provided in an associated portion of said tube and said passage having a substantially right angular bend adjacent its mid portion.

2. A sampling apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein said sample passage is tapered toward said inlet port to provide an inlet port smaller than said outlet port.

3. A sampling apparatus as claimed in claim 1 or 2 wherein a screw conveyor is provided in said tube to convey said sample to one end of said tube so that said sample is separated from said stream of granular material.
