University of Calgary LogoIn its 37-year history, the University of Calgary has become one of Canada's top seven research universities. With nearly 26,000 full-time students, the U of C has grown to one of the finest post-secondary institutions in Canada. Innovation, learning and discovery are "at the heart" of the U of C. According to the University, the pursuit of quality in "teaching and research programs is guided by our mission to contribute to the well-being of the people of Alberta, Canada, and the world."

Research is the top priority at the U of C. The University of Calgary belongs to 17 national research networks. These networks have been created to consolidate innovative research and development and advance Canada's economy to improve the quality of life for all Canadians. Research funding at the University of Calgary has more than doubled in the past 5 years to more than $170 million CDN. The University of Calgary believes that "research brings significant benefits provincially, nationally, and internationally and is the foundation of Alberta’s economic and social vitality."

The U of C has numerous bodies working in conjunction to support its outstanding research efforts. Chief among these are University Technologies Inc. (UTI), Research Services and the Medical Research Office. Research Services and the Medical Research Office provide information about research and related activities and aide and advise University researchers in their research and scholarly activities, assisting them in securing and administering related grants and contracts.
