The Butterfly

The Butterfly Support is a positioning system that prevents head and neck injuries in premature infants due to improper positioning. Its single cushion supports the spine without applying excessive pressure, and has the ability to modify its uses depending on the situation. The Butterfly consists of a central section with two wing-shaped extremities on both sides and a rounded "head" at the top. Each section is flexible with the ability to fold under the middle to create ideal support for the user.

Drawing of the ButterflyThe Butterfly is typically used in neo-natal wards and intensive care units in the treatment of several conditions including: torticollis, plagiocephaly (flat-head syndrome), asymmetrical tonic neck reflex and head and neck hyperextension. The cushion has the ability to hold an infant on it's left or right side and in the prone (stomach) or supine (back) position.

Outside of the hospital, The Butterfly can be used with people of all ages for head and neck support as well as with nursing mothers and their newborn babies.
