The University of Lethbridge was established in 1967 and serves approximately 7,300 students today. The University of Lethbridge places a high emphasis on research and has, thus, created the Office of Research Services to provide a number of services, including
- Organizing sessions for researchers on different funding agencies and their procedures
- Offering assistance and advice on grant and scholarship applications
- Development of methods for suitable research management
- Administration support for internal research scholarships and grants
- Providing information on research funding opportunities and scholarships both before and after approval
- Representing the U of L in meetings and conferences related to research funding
- Promotion of research at the U of L through development and the coordination of current research initiatives
- Protecting the intellectual property of researchers at the University
- Connecting research activity with funding opportunities from industry
- Negotiation and maintenance of licensing agreements
- Preparation of statistical information on research projects at the
University
The Office of Research Services protects the intellectual property of their researchers and links researchers with potential commercial investors. This effectively maximizes the profitability of the research innovations at this growing and important Alberta institution.
