Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description:
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. A shotgun cartridge casing formed of plastic material comprising a base portion and a continuous cylindrical wall integrally formed with and extending from said base portion and terminating remote from said base in a casing mouth; a portion of said wall adjacent said base, being thickened to reinforce said casing at the point of explosion and to define a propellent chamber; said continuous wall having its outer surface tapering inwardly throughout its length from said bas e to said mouth whereby the exterior diameter of the casing wall is greater adjacent the base than at the mouth; the inner surface of said wall tapering outwardly from said thickened portion to said mouth whereby the internal diameter of said casing wall is greater at the mouth than adjacent said propellent chamber so as to facilitate loading of the cartridge.

2. A shotgun cartridge including a casing of plastic material having a substantially cylindrical casing wall closed at one end by a base; a primer pocket in said base; a battery cup primer retained in said primer pocket; and closure means at the end of said casing opposite said base; said closure means holding a wad. a propellent and a shot charge enclosed within the casing wall; said casing wall having an outer surface which tapers inwardly substantially throughout the length thereof, and an inner surface including a thickened portion adjacent the base of the casing which surface tapers outwardly substantially throughout the length thereof from said thickened portion to the end of the casing remote from said base; both of said tapers being in a direction from the base of the casing to the other end of the casing whereby the outer surface of said casing wall is adapted to fit the taper of conventional weapon chambers with the tapered portion of the inner surface of said casing wall being adapted to facilitate the insertion of said wad, said propellent and said shot charge in said casing.
