Trolling Device (Patent No: 895063)

Inventor: Spongberg, Gillis

Location: Rocky Mountain House

Comments: N/A

Description: The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. A trolling device comprising a pair of elongated floats secured together in transversely spaced parallel relation, a rudder pivoted at one edge thereof to the outer side of one of said floats, and a single line connected to said rudder at a point remote from its pivoted edge, said line being effective for towing the device and also for positioning said rudder relative to the associated float.

2. The device as defined in claim 1 which is further characterized in that said line extends from said rudder transversely across said pair of floats.

3. The device as defined in claim 2 together with an elongated line guide extending longitudinally on the other of said floats and having said line passing transversely therethrough, whereby to limit displacement of the line longitudinally of the floats.

4. The device as defined in claim 1 together With stop means effective to prevent said rudder from assuming a Position parallel to the associated float.

5. The device as defined in claim 4 wherein said stop means are provided on said rudder and are engageable with the outer side of the associated float.

6. The device as defined in claim 4 wherein said stop means are resilient.

7. The device as defined in claim 1 which is further characterized in that said floats are capable of travel in either longitudinal direction, said rudder being pivoted to the associated float substantially midway the length of the float and being swingable through nearly 180°.

8. The device as defined in claim 7 together with stop means effective to prevent said rudder from assuming a Position parallel to the associated float.
