Claim.—1. The combination with a singletree having a hook to receive a trace, of a spring secured to the singletree and having its end turned over to normally bear against the face of the hook.

2. The combination with a singletree provided with a trace receiving member having a horizontal crossbar, of a resilient member having one end secured to the upper side of the singletree and the other end turned down to contact with the cross, the crossbar at right angles thereto.

3. A device for the purpose described comprising a flat spring having one end perforated whereby it may be secured to a singletree and the other end bent at right angles to bear against the face of the hook thereon, and the point of the turned portion turned back to form a grip.
