Description: CLAIM 1: A stove for heating built of heavy sheet steel comprising ash pit extending full length of stove. Directly above ash pit a fire box extending full length of stove, in which is built in an open bar grate which extends from front to center of stove, and a solid grate from center to back of stove. Directly above the fire box, a built in smoke return flue, consisting of four sections which extend the full length of stove, from front to back. Each of these four sections are divided, with heavy sheet steel, into two compartments, each extending two thirds of the length of stove from back of stove to front of stove.
The smoke and gas enters an opening cut into the left compartment of the first section, at the rear of the said section. The smoke and gas is then drawn forward and around sheet steel divider in first section and into right compartment of said first section. The smoke and gas then passes up through an opening cut into the right compartment of the second section at the rear of the said second section. The smoke and gas then passes up through an opening cut into the left compartment of the third section, at the rear of said third section. The smoke and gas is then drawn forward and around sheet steel divider in said third section. The smoke and gas then passes up through the opening cut in the right compartment of the fourth section at the rear of the said fourth section. The smoke and gas is then drawn forward and around sheet steel divider in said fourth section and back to rear of left compartment in the said fourth section, and continues up through opening cut to fit stove pipe leading to chimney.
The smoke, gas and heat passing through the eight compartments of the built in sections as related above, retards the exit of heat to chimney and thus extracts the heat units from fuel used, thus saving fuel.
CLAIM 2: A stove for heating built of sheet steel comprising ash pit extending full length of stove. Directly above this a fire box extending full length of stove, in which is built in an open bar grate which extends from front to center of stove, and a solid grate from center to back of stove.
Directly above the fire box in smoke return flue, consisting of four sections which extend the full length of stove, from front to back. Each of these four sections are divided with heavy sheet steel into two compartments each extending two thirds of the length of stove from back toward front of stove. The smoke and gas is then drawn forward and around sheet steel divider in first section and into right compartment of said first section. The smoke and gas then passes up through an opening cut into the right compartment of the second section at the rear of the said second section. The smoke and gas is then drawn forward and around sheet steel divider in first section. The smoke and gas then passes up through an opening cut into the right compartment of the second section at the rear of said second section. The smoke and gas is then drawn forward and around sheet steel divider in said second section, and into left compartment of said second section.
The smoke and gas then passes up through an opening cut into the left compartment of the third section at the rear of said third section. The smoke and gas is then drawn forward and around sheet steel divider up through an opening cut into the right compartment of the fourth section at the rear of the said fourth section. The smoke and gas is then drawn forward and around sheet steel divider in said fourth section, and back to rear of left compartment of said fourth section. The smoke and gas then passes up through an opening cut at rear of left compartment in the said fourth section, and continues up through stovepipe leading to chimney.
The half closed grate effects in saving fuel because: Fuel can be banked on closed portion of said grate, thus holding in a smouldering fire, and whenever more heat is required fuel can be drawn onto open portion of grate. Thus creating a saving of fuel.
