Lawrence Brennan, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, 5th June. 1917; 6 years. Filed 28th March, 1917. Receipt No. 277,653.

Claim.—1. A crane comprising a vertical post, a tubular member supported adjacent said post near the upper end thereof, a jib mounted on said tubular member above said post to have freedom of movement around said post, a cable carried by said lib and passing down through said tubular member, and means whereby said cable is wound up to lift a weight.

2. A crane comprising a vertical post, a hollow shaft extending longitudinally of said post and positioned to one side thereof, suitable brackets carried by the said post in which said shaft has bearing, the upper end of said shaft projecting above said post, a jib secured to said shaft to rotate therewith, a cable carried by said jib and passed down through said tubular shaft, and means carried by said post whereby said cable is wound up.
