Edmonton Valley Zoo

Falcons and Otters and Geese, oh my! Animal lovers, this is the place for you! With more species of animals than most people could ever dream of, the Valley Zoo in Edmonton is a favourite place for kids and adults alike.

Girl at the Edmonton Zoo holding a Peregrine Falcon If you wanted to see many of the species of animals found in Alberta, you could be out in the bushes for a long time! At the Valley Zoo you'll find many species of mammals and birds that would otherwise take countless hours to find in the wild. Animals like the Barred Owl, the endangered Peregrine Falcon and even the amazing and beautiful snow leopard call the Valley Zoo their home. The Valley Zoo has animals native to other parts of the world as well, making this the animal-lovers paradise.

Elephants at the Edmonton Valley Zoo The Valley Zoo doesn't just take care of animals - they are also actively involved in conservation of animal species at risk. If you are interested in helping out, the Zoo provides educational programs, family adventures and even organizes corporate functions to raise money to keep endangered species alive and well.

Snow Leopard at the Valley Zoo Of course, there are few things kids love more than the zoo. The Valley Zoo caters specifically to kids, offering a petting zoo, a train ride through the zoo, merry-go-round, and paddleboats. They even offer pony rides for youngsters who are a bit more adventurous.

Have you ever wanted to adopt an animal from the zoo? Well, the Valley Zoo lets people do that, too! Anyone can adopt an animal, but sorry - you can't take it home. The expertly trained zookeepers are the perfect caretakers for your adopted animal.

Owl at the Valley Zoo If you're at the zoo and you want some specific information, you can take in a show and learn about things like birds of prey and sea lions. Or if you would rather do things yourself you can just wander around and enjoy the animals.

The Valley Zoo is located on Buena Vista Road and 134 Street in Edmonton. For the information phone (780) 496-8787, or to reach the main reception desk call (780) 496-6912. Check out their website for more information, including a map to their location.
