Wives, friends, employers and employees write about the world of the missionary from a unique perspective-closely involved with the lives of the missionaries, they played complementary, yet singular roles. Wives aided their husbands, all the while immersed in caring for their family and the sick, counselling the confused and harbouring the homeless. Employers and employees had their own set of responsibilities and objectives, and spoke out with praise or complaint, asking questions and making demands.

Whether in an objective voice or a tone softened by time, these other perspectives shed light in on the world of the missionary, recalling for us experiences and episodes that made a lasting impression.
