Michael and Renata Jiranek who came to Alberta in 1968 to escape the Soviet invasion of their
Czech homeland. Their dream was to coach figure skating. Within
ten years they had taken Kurt Browning, from the small town of
Caroline, Alberta and turned him into a national figure skating champion.
Produced by Tom Radford, the film is one of the Scattering of Seeds series from
White Pine
Pictures. The series celebrates the character of immigrants
who staked their futures and those of their families on a second
chance in Canada.
