Category : Pass | |
This pass, which was named in 1917, is 2316 m in altitude. It takes its name from the Astoria fur traders who travelled east through the Athabasca Pass in 1814. These traders were named after Fort Astoria, established by the American Fur Co. in 1811 at the mouth of the Columbia River. The fort takes its name from the fur trader and capitalist John Jacob Astor (1763-1848). |
