Barrier Lake
Barrier Lake in the Mountain Region of Alberta.

The lake derives its name from the mountain located at its south end, locally known as "Barrier Mountain" or "The Barrier." This mountain was a barrier to north-south travel along the Kananaskis River before the present road was constructed. The mountain's official name is now Mount Baldy. The name for the lake was approved 1 November 1956. |
