Agnes Lake

Category : Lake

The origin of the name Agnes Lake is not known although there is a suggestion it may have been named by J.N. Wallace, Dominion Land Surveyor, during his survey of the 18th Baseline in 1905. However, it is just one of a number of features in the area that have women's names, all of which were probably named in the 1930s or 1940s. These include the lakes named after Jessie, Jane, Ethel, Kathryn, Edith, Lois, Anna and Sarah. Ethel, Edith and Sarah all have creeks named after them. One man, Archie, is also represented in area lakes. Who these people are is not known.

Approximately 175 km north-west of Edmonton.
