Enduring Interest: the Settlement that Wouldn’t Die The
descendants of those who lived in Victoria Settlement, and members of
the communities around it, had an enduring interest in the place. There
was a concerted effort to look after the community and people bound
together to purchase and protect whatever they could.
The fight for Victoria Settlement ultimately succeeded. The site
received both National and Provincial Historic designations as well as
support from the Métis Nation of Alberta, and the Province of Alberta.
