Igneous Rocks Ig + nee +us

These types of rocks are made when lava or magma (burning liquid rock) cools, hardens, and becomes solid. There are two types of igneous rocks. Those rocks that hardened below the earth's surface (underground) are called intrusive or plutonic. The rocks that hardened on the surface are called extrusive or volcanic.
