Valhalla (val + hall + a)

Valhalla is a town in northern Alberta, just northwest of Grande Prairie. The name comes to us from the Vikings! You’ve heard of the Vikings right? In Viking mythology, Valhalla is the home of the Gods, where heroes went after death. In modern times the word has become a synonym (a word that means the same as another word like big and large) for heaven. Reverend H.N. Ronning, the Lutheran pastor that started the settlement, suggested the name.
