Border Irrigation (ear + i + gay + shun)

To irrigate means to water crops by moving water through pipes or ditches to where it is needed. The pipes that carry the water can be both above and below the ground. Border irrigation uses strips of land with ditches on each side that carry water the entire length of the strip.
