Card, Charles Ora

Charles Card started the town of Cardston, Alberta, which is south of Lethbridge. He came to Canada from the United States because of his religion. He was a Mormon and at the time (1887) the Mormon Church and United States government were not getting along. Charles Card and other Mormons liked it so much in Cardston that they built the first Mormon Church in Alberta there, and decided to stay. Pretty soon more Mormons from the United States started to move to Alberta to farm and start businesses around the Cardston area. Charles Card also became a very good businessman.
