Cochrane Ranch

This was one of the first big cattle ranches in Alberta. It is named after Senator Matthew H. Cochrane, a successful man of business with friends in the government. Senator Cochrane died in 1903 and the ranch was sold in 1905. It had been the first great ranch, and the largest of its time. The town of Cochrane is also named after him.
