Loggerhead Shrike

The Loggerhead Shrike is a bird that only lives in North America. It got the nickname “butcherbird” because of the way it kills their food. These birds will pick up small animals like mice and stick their bodies on barbed wire or thorns! Ouch!

Loggerhead Shrikes are birds that love open places. They like to live in grassy places with trees and shrubs to make their nests in.
