Nuorison Creek

Just west of Red Deer, Alberta there is a creek that flows into the Medicine River. The name Nuorison comes from the Finnish (Finland is a country in Europe) term meaning “young people”. A youth hall was built next to the creek in 1906, and was called Nuorison Sally, “sally” being the Finnish word for hall. At the request of a Finnish couple that own land through which the creek runs, it was officially named Nuorison Creek in 1986.
