Raymond

Everybody loves Raymond. Isn’t that a TV program? Raymond is also a town in southern Alberta that was built by Mormons around 1901. Mormons are members of a religious group. A wealthy businessman, named Jessie Knight, from Utah (USA) wanted to build a sugar factory and a town. Many Mormons came from the United States to live and work in Raymond. There were jobs in the sugar factory, business opportunities in the town, and farming and ranching could be done in the surrounding area.
