Surface Irrigation (ear + i + gay + shun)

To irrigate means to water crops by moving water through pipes or ditches to where it is needed. Surface irrigation is when water is poured over the entire surface of a field. After the pouring of the water has stopped the remaining water will either run off the field or soak into the soil.
