Badlands

This does not mean that it is a bad place or that lots of bad people live there. The badlands are places where wind and water have made holes in the ground and worn the rocks into strange shapes. These strange looking rocks are called Hoodoos (who + do) and people come from all over the world to see them. The word “badlands” may come from a French word that means “bad earth”. They are called badlands because you cannot grow or farm anything on the land. The badlands are in southern Alberta around the Drumheller area.
