Cypress Hills

This is one of the largest provincial parks in Alberta and it is located in the southeast corner of the province. It is also the only inter-provincial park in Canada. What this means is that part of the park is in Alberta, and part of it is in Saskatchewan. Cypress Hills is special for other reasons as well. A 7,000-year-old Aboriginal camp found here is one of the most important archaeological sites in Alberta. In 1873 many people were killed at Cypress Hills, so the Canadian government made the North-West Mounted Police and sent them to bring law and order to the west.
