Japanese Settlement

Many Japanese men came to Canada and Alberta to work on railways, irrigation systems, or on sugar beet farms. They were trying to make money to buy their own farms back home in Japan. While many of these early Japanese workers stayed only a little while in Alberta, those that chose to stay set up farms in southern Alberta.
