The town of Leduc is just south of Edmonton, Alberta. It straddles (on each side of) Highway 2 – the highway that connects Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary. The 1947 discovery of oil in the Leduc area made Leduc and Alberta famous. The discovery of oil created thousands of jobs, and people came from all over Canada to work in the oil fields around Leduc.
